Dan Seals
1948 - 2009

Born: McCamey, Texas, February 8, 1948 …Dan Seals came from quite the musical family…Johnny Duncan was his cousin and his brother did good things as part of a folk-rock duo, Seals and Croft.  Dan was also related to Brady Seals of the group Little Texas and Nashville songwriter Troy Seals. Both brothers played with their parents in the Family Band, with our boy learning string bass; however, after their parents divorced, he spent several years moving around with his mother. They eventually settled in Dallas in 1958, and spent his teen years playing in garage bands, where he first met a fella named John. They worked together in a band called the Shimmerers, which recorded some demos in 1965 and to make a long story short…became England Dan and John Ford Coley. He redefined his music style in the 1980's and gained popularity with a whole new audience… the country fans, and enjoyed a run of 9 consecutive number one hits.

Dan spent the first part of his music career touring the country in a cramped van. It wasn't until he had three years of hits under his belt that he figured it'd be ok to step up to a tour bus. The same year he released "Big Wheels in the Moonlight".

Dan Seals passed away March 25, 2009, following a valiant struggle with mantle cell lymphoma (Cancer). He was 61.
